From the Artist Daud Akhriev
The Caucasus mountains sit at an intersection between East and West. This image is a depiction from a legend where a man and a woman meet at a river. She has a vessel, and he carries a handkerchief as a symbol of affection returned. Though the area’s courtship traditions are reserved, here the two are forming a relationship as they both seek refreshment. East and West, man and woman, meet and find common ground at the water. One side of the scarf has graceful, subdued colors and the other side is festive like a carnival.
